Wesley College Recipient of Honorable Grant
Posted in the October 2024 Newsletter
I'm so excited to share with you that Wesley College was chosen as the recipient of the 2024 "So That The World May Know Jesus Grant” from the Dr. H. Eddie and Mary Nell Fox Endowment for Evangelism.
The Foundation for Evangelism awarded the grant at the World Methodist Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden and honors Rev. Dr. Eddie Fox and and his wife Mary Nell.
“Eddie Fox has preached to more people and taught faith sharing to more people than anyone on earth.”
Bishop Michael Watson | Retired Bishop, The United Methodist Church
Eddie and his wife, Mary Nell, traveled the globe focused on equipping leaders for ministry. Not only did they focus on building up and inspiring leaders-- they saw the importance of leaders adapting to cultural and local ways of ministry rather than adopting one exclusive ministry method. The Foundation for Evangelism saw the same missional components in Wesley College as Eddie and Mary Nell exemplified in their work.
“What was really exciting to us is that this is not just something designed for their college and their denomination, but for the entirety of the Wesleyan tradition, so when Fox family heard that, and we heard that we said, ‘this sounds exactly like something Eddie and Mary Nell would love to encourage and embrace!’”
Rev. Dr. Jack Jackson | President, The Foundation for Evangelism
We are thrilled to receive this grant to create a new curriculumfocused on church planting. This program will be piloted with students and then deployed to local church leaders.
The video below shows how Rafael, Wesley College Graduate, saw the need to revitalize the way people experienced church and created thriving opportunities to meet his community where they were.
As you heard, this grant will allow Wesley College to help move the local church's methods into the 21st Century. This will ensure we are creating new ways to do missions and new ways to do church that meet the needs of local Tanzanian communities.
We have seen the impact and crucial need of forming churches to meet people "where they are." This grant will build on what we see is growing and fruitful and turn it into curriculum that can be replicated and shaped to meet other communities where they are in Tanzania.
Thank you to the Foundation for Evangelism for seeing the need and growth opportunities at Wesley College and the future for continuing to invest in changing people's lives.
